Epofit 4000 Injection is used to treat certain types of anaemia.

Uses of Epofit 4000 Injection are:

• Kidney-Disease Anaemia: Manages anaemia in chronic kidney disease.
• Treatment-Related Anaemia: Manages anaemia from zidovudine or chemotherapy.
• Around Surgery: Can reduce the need for blood transfusions.

Administer Epofit Injection as follows:

• Ensure that the injection site is clean and sanitized.

• This injection can be administered either subcutaneously or intravenously. It's important to note that intravenous administration is recommended for hemodialysis patients.

• Discard any unused portion of the single-dose prefilled syringe.

• It's crucial to store Epofit Injection in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Protect it from light, and do not freeze or shake it.

• Always consult your doctor for specific advice on administration.

Epofit Injection is administered either subcutaneously or intravenously.

Epofit Injection contains Epoetin alfa (4000 IU). This medicine works on your body in the following ways:

• Stimulates Erythropoiesis: Epoetin Alfa promotes the production of red blood cells. This process is known as erythropoiesis.

• Activates Bone Marrow Cells: It binds to specific receptors on cells in your bone marrow. This interaction activates certain pathways within these cells that stimulate them to proliferate and differentiate into red blood cells.

• Increases Hemoglobin Levels and Hematocrit: The increased production of red blood cells leads to higher levels of haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. This also results in a higher hematocrit, which is the percentage of your blood volume that is made up of red blood cells.

• Keep Epofit Injection in the refrigerator at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C.

• Protect it from light, and don't freeze or shake it.

• Ensure it's out of reach of children.

• Use Epofit Injection before the expiry date mentioned on the packet.

• Maintain a balanced diet rich in iron, folate, and vitamin B12 to support red blood cell production encouraged by Epofit Injection.

• If you're undergoing dialysis due to chronic kidney disease, limit your intake of high-potassium foods like bananas and oranges, as they can affect your kidney function.
