Empha S 25 Tablet 10 is used for:

Improving glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Swallow the tablet whole with water.
It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time every day.
Do not chew, crush, or split the tablet.
Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding timing and dosage.

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 may cause the following common side effects:

Vaginal yeast infections or other genital infections
Urinary tract infections
Increased urination
Constipation
Rash or itching

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary, generally harmless, and resolve upon discontinuing the use of Empha S 25 Tablet 10. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Urinary tract infections: Drink sufficient water, maintain hygiene, and seek medical help if you develop burning urination, fever, or back pain.
Genital infections: Keep the area clean and dry. Antifungal treatment may be prescribed if infections persist.
Dehydration from increased urination: Increase your fluid intake and avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine.
Constipation: Eat high-fibre foods, drink plenty of fluids, and stay physically active.

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 contains the following components:

Empagliflozin (25 mg): A sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It works by blocking SGLT2 in the kidneys, leading to increased removal of glucose through urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Sitagliptin (100 mg): A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by increasing incretin levels in the body, which improve insulin release after meals and reduce glucose production by the liver.

Pregnancy

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 is not recommended during pregnancy. Its safety has not been established, and animal studies suggest possible risks to the baby. Always consult your doctor for safer alternatives.

Breastfeeding

It is not known whether empagliflozin or sitagliptin passes into human breast milk. Animal studies show both components may appear in milk. To avoid potential risk to the infant, breastfeeding mothers should not use this medicine unless specifically advised by a doctor.

Alcohol

Alcohol may cause fluctuations in blood sugar levels, increase the risk of dehydration, and raise the risk of lactic acidosis. Avoid or limit alcohol consumption during treatment.

Liver

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment. Severe liver disease may worsen side effects or change how the medicine works in the body.

Kidney

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 is not recommended for patients with severe kidney impairment or those on dialysis. Kidney function should be checked before starting treatment with this tablet.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

This medicine may cause dizziness, tiredness, or blurred vision, particularly if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.

Allergy

Do not use Empha S 25 Tablet 10 if you are allergic to empagliflozin, sitagliptin, or any other ingredient in the formulation.

Children

This medicine is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age, as safety and effectiveness have not been established in this group.

Older Patients

Patients aged over 70 years may have a higher risk of dehydration, kidney problems, and low blood pressure. Regular monitoring is necessary, and the medicine should only be used under close medical supervision.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 interacts with the following medicines:

Diuretics such as furosemide: The concomitant use may increase the risk of dehydration or low blood pressure when combined with Empha S 25 Tablet 10.
Insulin and sulphonylureas (such as glimepiride): Increase the risk of low blood sugar. Your doctor may lower the dose of these medicines.
Antibiotics such as rifampin: May reduce the effectiveness of sitagliptin.
Corticosteroids such as prednisone and sympathomimetics such as epinephrine, albuterol: The concomitant use may make blood sugar harder to control.
UGT enzyme inducers (such as phenytoin or rifampicin): The concomitant use may reduce the effect of empagliflozin. Co-administration is not recommended.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Empha S 25 Tablet 10 interacts with the following diseases:

Pancreatitis: Patients with a history of pancreatitis should avoid this medicine as sitagliptin may increase the risk.
Kidney impairment: Reduced kidney function lowers the effectiveness of empagliflozin and may increase the risk of adverse effects. Discontinue if kidney function worsens.
Ketoacidosis: Rare cases have been reported. Patients with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or unusual tiredness should stop treatment and seek urgent medical help.

Daily Dose

The recommended daily dose of Empha S 25 Tablet 10 should be taken as per your doctor’s advice. The dosage may vary depending on the severity of your condition and your response to treatment. Never change the dose without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

Taking more than the prescribed dose of Empha S 25 Tablet 10 may cause severe dehydration, dizziness, increased urination, or low blood sugar. Seek medical help immediately.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose.

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Follow a balanced diet with reduced sugar and refined carbohydrates.
Eat more vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and fibre-rich foods.
