Donepezil increases levels of acetylcholine, a chemical involved in memory and thinking, while memantine regulates glutamate, another brain chemical, protecting nerve cells from overstimulation, and together they support memory, thinking and daily functioning.
Take this tablet daily, generally in the evening, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and continue treatment as advised, since benefits build up gradually and are best assessed by your doctor over time.
Tell your doctor if you have a slow heart rate, seizures, or stomach ulcers, as this combination needs caution in these conditions. Report any severe dizziness, fainting or unusual confusion promptly.
