Composition

Clopidogrel (75 Mg)

Clavix Tablet is used to prevent blood clots in individuals at risk of heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular events. It contains Clopidogrel, an antiplatelet agent that inhibits platelet aggregation, thereby improving blood flow and reducing the likelihood of clot formation.

This medicine is also prescribed in patients who have experienced unstable angina or myocardial infarction (heart attack) and have a stent in the blocked artery. Additionally, it is prescribed in combination with acetylsalicylic acid in patients having atrial fibrillation who cannot be given oral anticoagulants.

Clavix Tablet is used to prevent blood clots and reduce the risk of the following conditions:

Atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries)
History of heart attack
History of stroke
History of peripheral arterial disease
History of unstable angina

This tablet should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow it with water, preferably after food, to prevent nausea.
Do not cut, break, or chew the medicine.
It would be best to take it at a fixed time for optimal results

Clavix Tablet is taken orally.

The common side effects of Clavix Tablet include:

Diarrhoea
Stomach pain
Indigestion
Bleeding

Managing the Side Effects:

Most of the side effects of Clavix Tablet are usually mild and often do not require urgent medical attention. They improve with continued usage of the medicine. However, if the side effects persist or worsen or something other than that listed above occurs, inform your doctor immediately.

Clavix Tablet contains the following component:

Clopidogrel (75 mg): It is an antiplatelet agent that prevents blood platelets from sticking together and forming clots, thus reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Pregnancy

Clavix Tablet is not advisable for use during pregnancy. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, please consult your doctor before taking this medication.

Breastfeeding

Before taking Clavix Tablet consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as it is not advisable for use in lactating women. In case, this medicine is prescribed to you, it is advised to discontinue breastfeeding.

Alcohol

It is advisable to avoid alcohol if you are taking Clavix Tablet as excessive alcohol consumption can raise the likelihood of gastrointestinal bleeding and other complications.

Liver

Clavix Tablet is metabolised in the liver, and individuals with severe liver impairment may have an increased risk of bleeding. Close monitoring and appropriate dose adjustments are essential in such cases.

Kidney

Patients with kidney problems should use Clavix Tablet cautiously, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Regular observation of kidney function may also be recommended.

Using Machines & Driving

Clavix Tablet is generally not associated with impairing the ability to operate machinery or drive a vehicle. Still, it is necessary to assess alertness and coordination due to potential individual variations.

Allergy

Individuals with known allergies or hypersensitivity to clopidogrel or other medication components should avoid using Clavix Tablet. Read the label carefully before using this medication.

Children

Clavix Tablet is not recommended in children.

Older Patients

Older patients (over 65 years) may be more susceptible to bleeding complications while using Clavix Tablet. Close monitoring and appropriate dose adjustments based on kidney function and overall health status may be necessary.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Clavix Tablet interacts with the following medications including

NSAIDs such as aspirin and ibuprofen when taken with this tablet may interact and lead to an increased risk of bleeding.
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as citalopram when taken with this tablet may interact and lead to increased risk of bleeding.
Proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole when taken with this tablet may interact and reduce plasma levels of this tablet.

Clavix Tablet interacts with the following food including:

Grapefruit and Grapefruit Juice: Taking this tablet with grapefruit or grapefruit juice can reduce the effectiveness of this tablet.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Clavix Tablet interacts with the following diseases:

Bleeding disorders: It may further increase the risk of bleeding and worsen this condition when taken with this tablet.
Liver diseases: It may further worsen when taken with this tablet.
Kidney diseases: It may further worsen when taken with this tablet.

Daily Dose

The recommended dose of Clavix Tablet is as your doctor prescribes. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. It is essential to follow the suggested dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive dose of Clavix Tablet by accident, it is essential to take immediate medical attention from your doctor or nearby hospital. An overdose's symptoms include nausea and vomiting, stomach upset and gastric pain, drowsiness, and bleeding.

Missed Dose

If you forgot to take Clavix Tablet, take it as soon as you recall or as your health care provider instructed. If the time for the next dosage is close, skipping the missed one is recommended, and resume your regular dosage pattern. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Store this medicine at room temperature (15-25ºC).
Please protect it from light and moisture.
Keep this medicine away from children.
