Cathflush Injection is used for the following:

• Keeping blood clots from forming in various parts of the body, such as the heart, legs, and lungs

• Prevent and treat thromboembolic disorders such as thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism, coronary or venous thrombosis and occlusive vascular disease.

• Preemptively stopping blood clot formation during and after certain surgical procedures

Administer Cathflush Injection as suggested below:

• The injection will be administered either intravenously or subcutaneously by a doctor.

• The medication is commonly used to flush a catheter before and after each use.

• Do not administer more than the recommended dose.

Cathflush Injection is administered intravenously or subcutaneously.

Cathflush Injection contains Heparin (10 IU). The ways in which it acts on your body are as follows:

• Enhances Antithrombin III Activity: Heparin works by boosting the activity of antithrombin III, which is a natural inhibitor of blood clotting factors in your body. This enhancement means that antithrombin III can work more effectively.

• Prevents Clot Formation: By enhancing antithrombin III, Heparin disrupts the coagulation cascade. This is a series of reactions that lead to the formation of a clot. By disrupting this process, Heparin helps to prevent the formation and growth of blood clots.

• Store Cathflush Injection at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Ensure that it is out of the reach and sight of children.

• Always check the expiry date on the package before administering the medicine.

• If you're using Cathflush Injection to prevent blood clots, include foods rich in vitamin E in your diet such as almonds and spinach. Vitamin E is known for its blood-thinning properties which can support the effect of heparin.

• To reduce the risk of osteoporosis that long-term use of heparin may cause, ensure adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D. Regularly eating dairy products and spending some time in sunlight can help with this.
