Augmentin Duo Suspension 30ml

Augmentin Duo Suspension is prescribed for children to treat bacterial infections affecting the respiratory tract, ears, urinary system, skin, and soft tissues. It works by killing bacteria and preventing their multiplication, allowing the body to recover effectively when taken as directed by a doctor.

Administer Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension to your child as instructed below:

• Ensure you shake the bottle well before each use.
• Measure the recommended quantity using a spoon or cup.
• Follow your doctor's advice on how long your child should take this medicine.
• For additional instructions, read the package insert provided with the bottle.
• If unsure about any aspect of administering this medicine, do consult your child's doctor.

Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension is given orally.

Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension contains two active ingredients:

• Amoxicillin (200 mg): As a semisynthetic penicillin-type antibiotic, amoxicillin works by binding to and inactivating proteins called penicillin-binding proteins. These proteins are essential for the survival of bacteria because they play a key role in forming their cell walls. By inhibiting these proteins, amoxicillin disrupts the formation of bacteria cell walls leading to their death.
• Clavulanic Acid (28.5 mg): This is a β-lactamase inhibitor. Certain bacteria produce β-lactamase enzymes which can degrade antibiotics like amoxicillin making them ineffective. Clavulanic acid prevents this degradation thereby extending the antibiotic spectrum of amoxicillin allowing it to effectively combat these resistant bacteria.

• Store Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension at or below 25°C.
• Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
• After making the suspension, place it in the fridge.
• Ensure the medicine is out of reach of children.

• When your child is on Augmentin Duo Oral Suspension, ensure they drink plenty of fluids. This can help prevent side effects like diarrhoea.
• Encourage your child to finish meals before taking the medicine, as this can reduce the chance of stomach upset.
