Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution 5Ml

Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution is used to lower high fluid pressure inside the eyes in adults with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Uses of Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution are:

• Open-Angle Glaucoma: Lowers high intraocular pressure to help protect the optic nerve and preserve vision.
• Ocular Hypertension: Controls abnormally high pressure in the eye to prevent onset of glaucoma.
• Glaucoma Progression: Helps slow down the gradual worsening of elevated eye pressure.

Here are some guidelines on how to use Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution:

• Always wash your hands before using the eye drops.

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.

• Hold the dropper above the eye with the tip down and squeeze out a drop.

• Close your eye and gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye for about 1 minute, to keep the liquid from draining into your tear duct.

• If you are using other eye drops as well, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them.

Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution is applied topically.

Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution contains two active components:

• Brimonidine Tartrate (0.1%): This component works as an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It reduces the production of aqueous humour, a fluid in the eye, and increases uveoscleral outflow, a pathway that allows the fluid to exit the eye. The combined effect of these actions is the lowering of intraocular pressure. Moreover, brimonidine has neuroprotective properties that may help prevent the death of retinal ganglion cells, which is a crucial factor in glaucoma progression.

• Oxychloro Complex (0.005%): This unique component of Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It aids in stabilising the tear film, reducing inflammation on the ocular surface, and protecting against oxidative stress, which can contribute to the pathogenesis of glaucoma.

• Keep the Alphagan Z Ophthalmic Solution upright and store it at room temperature.

• Protect it from freezing and excessive heat.

• Store it in a place where children cannot reach.

• Ensure to use the solution before its expiration date.

• Discard any unused solution 28 days after opening to prevent contamination.

• Regular eye exercises: Simple movements like rolling your eyes, focusing on different distances, and gentle massage can help maintain eye health when managing glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

• Healthy diet: Foods rich in vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial for eye health. Include more citrus fruits, leafy greens, nuts, whole grains, and oily fish in your diet.
