Actrapid 100iu Flexpen 3ml is used to manage diabetes mellitus in patients who require insulin therapy. It belongs to a class of medicines known as short-acting human insulin formulations, and helps control blood glucose levels, particularly around mealtimes. It contains regular human insulin.
This short-acting insulin starts working within about 30 minutes of injection, closely mimicking the body's natural mealtime insulin response, which helps control the rise in blood sugar that follows eating.
Administer this insulin by injection under the skin, usually 30 minutes before a meal, exactly as your doctor or diabetes nurse has shown you. Rotate the injection site each time, and never change your dose or timing without medical advice.
Never stop or skip insulin doses on your own, even if you feel unwell, as this can lead to dangerously high blood sugar; contact your doctor instead if you are struggling with your dose. Learn to recognise the signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), and always carry a fast-acting sugar source.
