Acitrom 4 Tablet is used to prevent and treat blood clots.

Uses of Acitrom 4 Tablet are:

• DVT and Pulmonary Embolism: Prevents and treats clots in the deep veins and lungs.
• Stroke Prevention: Reduces clot-related stroke risk in atrial fibrillation.
• After Heart Events: Helps prevent clots after certain heart events or surgery.

Here are some instructions while taking Acritom 4 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or breaking the tablet.

• Consistency is key, so take your medicine at the same time each day.

• Never alter your prescribed dose without consulting your doctor first.

Acritom 4 Tablet is taken orally.

Acitrom 4 Tablet contains nicoumalone (4 mg). It acts on the body in the following ways:

• Inhibits Vitamin K-Dependent Clotting Factors: Nicoumalone works by blocking the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X in the liver. Vitamin K is necessary for these clotting proteins to form.

• Reduces Blood Clotting: By inhibiting these clotting factors, nicoumalone effectively decreases the ability of the blood to clot excessively. This reduces the risk of harmful blood clots forming inside blood vessels while still allowing normal clotting when required to prevent excessive bleeding.

• Store Acritom 4 Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 15-30°C.

• Keep the medicine protected from light and moisture to maintain its effectiveness.

• Ensure the medication is stored out of reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before use; expired medicine should not be used.

• For patients on Acritom 4 Tablet, due to its role in managing thromboembolic disorders, you may benefit from a diet low in saturated fats to help maintain healthy blood vessels and prevent clot formation.

• Regular physical activity like walking can also aid in maintaining good blood circulation and minimising the risk of blood clots.
