Zentel Suspension 10ml

Zentel Suspension is used to treat a variety of intestinal worm infections including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and pinworm. It is also prescribed for serious parasitic infections such as cystic hydatid disease affecting the liver or lungs and neurocysticercosis involving the brain. This medicine works by blocking the parasites’ ability to absorb glucose, which leads to their death and clearance from the body.

Use Zentel Suspension in the following way:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Measure the required quantity using a spoon or cup.

• The suspension should be taken orally as advised by your doctor.

• Always take this medicine with food to improve absorption.

• Continue taking it for the full duration prescribed even if symptoms resolve early.

Zentel Suspension is taken orally.

Zentel Suspension contains albendazole (400 mg), which works on your body as follows:

• Selective Binding: Albendazole binds selectively to beta-tubulin, a protein necessary for building microtubules in parasite cells. This disrupts cell division, energy metabolism and motility of the parasites.

• Disrupts Microtubule Polymerisation: Albendazole inhibits microtubule polymerization, which further affects glucose uptake in larval and adult stages of susceptible parasites.

• Systemic Absorption: Although albendazole concentrates mainly in the intestinal tract, it also gets absorbed systemically making it effective against tissue parasites.

• Metabolism: Albendazole gets metabolised in the liver to its active metabolite albendazole sulfoxide, which contributes to its therapeutic effects.

• Store Zentel Suspension in a cool, dry place where the temperature is below 30°C.

• Make sure it's kept out of direct sunlight.

• Keep the medicine out of reach of children.

• Shake well before use and discard any unused suspension after one month from opening.

• Maintain good personal hygiene to prevent reinfection with intestinal worms. This includes washing your hands regularly, especially before meals and after using the toilet.

• If you're managing parasitic infections like cystic hydatid disease or neurocysticercosis, it's important to avoid raw or undercooked pork, lamb, and other meats that could carry tapeworm larvae.
