Tretura 0.025% Cream 20Gm

Tretura 0.025% Cream 20gm is used to manage acne vulgaris, a common skin condition. Uses of Tretura 0.025% Cream 20gm are:

• Acne vulgaris: This medicine helps clear blackheads and whiteheads (blocked pores) and reduces inflamed spots on the skin. It works by unblocking hair follicles and normalising how skin cells shed on the surface.

• Photodamaged skin: As an additional treatment, it may improve fine wrinkles, rough texture and uneven pigmentation (mottled dark patches) caused by sun damage over time.

Apply Tretura 0.025% Cream 20gm as follows:

• Gently wash the affected area with a mild cleanser and pat the skin dry.

• Wait around 20 to 30 minutes after washing to ensure the skin is completely dry before applying the cream.

• Using clean fingertips, apply a thin layer to lightly cover the affected area.

• Avoid the eyes, eyelids, corners of the nose, mouth, inside of the ears and any broken or sunburned skin.

• Wash your hands after applying.

• Consult your doctor for specific advice on how often to apply this medicine.

Tretura 0.025% Cream 20gm contains tretinoin (0.025% w/w), which works as follows:

• Binds to nuclear receptors: Tretinoin activates retinoic acid receptors (RARs) in skin cells, regulating gene expression involved in skin-cell growth, differentiation and shedding

• Normalises follicular shedding: This medicine reduces the stickiness of cells lining the hair follicles and increases the rate at which surface skin cells turn over and shed. This action loosens existing plugs of dead cells and oil, helping to clear blackheads and whiteheads.

• Prevents microcomedone formation: By normalising the shedding process, tretinoin reduces microcomedone formation, the microscopic early lesion from which both non-inflamed and inflamed acne spots develop.

• Reduces inflammation: Tretinoin dampens inflammatory mediators, which are substances in the body that cause inflammation. This helps to improve inflamed acne lesions.

• Store the tube tightly closed at room temperature, ideally below 30 degrees Celsius.

• Keep it away from excess heat and moisture.

• Store the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• Dispose of any unused or expired cream according to local guidance.

• Protect treated skin from direct sunlight with protective clothing and broad-spectrum sunscreen, as tretinoin increases sensitivity to sunlight.

• Avoid waxing or chemical hair-removal products on treated areas, as they can increase skin irritation and damage.
