• Central Nervous System Infections: Helps treat meningitis and other infections affecting the brain and spinal cord.
• Complicated Infections: Helps manage complicated urinary tract infections and infections in patients with weakened immunity or after surgery.

Skypenam Sb 1.5gm Injection 1 is a combination of two active components:

• Meropenem (1000 mg): Meropenem is a broad-spectrum carbapenem antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), crucial in forming the bacteria's cell wall. This disruption leads to cell lysis or the breaking down of the cells, causing the death of susceptible bacteria. Meropenem is stable against most beta-lactamases produced by gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.
• Sulbactam (500 mg): This component is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects meropenem from degradation by binding to and inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes produced by many bacteria that can inactivate beta-lactam antibiotics like meropenem. This action enhances and extends the antibiotic activity of meropenem, especially against beta-lactamase-producing strains.
