Ralop Suspension is used to treat sudden (acute) diarrhea in infants and young children. It is specifically designed to work quickly to firm up stools and reduce the total number of trips to the bathroom. This is critical for preventing dehydration in small children, who can lose fluids very rapidly during a stomach infection.
This suspension contains Racecadotril, an antisecretory agent. Unlike some medications that "paralyze" the gut, Ralop works by preventing the intestines from pumping excess water and salt into the stool. It targets the gut lining directly, allowing the body to clear the infection naturally while keeping the child hydrated and comfortable.
This medication should be given alongside Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) to replace lost fluids. It has a pleasant taste, making it easier for children to take. Consult your pediatrician if the diarrhea is accompanied by blood in the stool or if your child has a very high fever.
