Composition

Pirfenidone (200 Mg)

Pirmax-200 Tablet is used to slow the progression of mild to moderate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in adults, a condition where scar tissue builds up in the lungs, causing progressive breathing difficulties. It does not cure IPF but may help preserve lung function.

It contains pirfenidone (200 mg), an anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory medicine. Take it with food as prescribed; do not skip doses and keep taking it as directed, even if symptoms are not getting worse.

Sun protection (sunscreen and protective clothing) is essential while taking this medicine, as it causes sensitivity to sunlight. Stopping smoking supports better lung health alongside this medicine.

Tell your doctor about any liver problems before starting, and about other medicines you take. Regular liver function tests are recommended. Report a severe skin reaction (rash, blistering) after sun exposure, severe nausea or persistent stomach pain, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Pirmax-200 Tablet is used to slow the progression of mild to moderate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in adults, helping to preserve lung function over time.

Uses of Pirmax-200 Tablet are:

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: Helps slow the progression of IPF.
Lung Protection: May help preserve lung function in people with mild to moderate IPF.
Long-Term Treatment: Usually taken as an ongoing treatment as part of IPF management.

Take Pirmax 200 Tablet in the following way:

Take it as prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
It is advisable to take it at the same time each day to maintain the proper level of medication in the body.
Only alter the dosage or discontinue the medication after consulting your doctor.

Pirmax 200 Tablet is taken orally.

Pirmax-200 Tablet may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Pirmax-200 Tablet:

Digestive: Feeling sick (nausea), stomach pain and loose motions (diarrhoea). Taking small sips of water and eating plain, simple food can help ease nausea.
Skin: Rash (can be worsened by sun exposure). A cool compress on the area can help soothe itching.
Respiratory: Upper respiratory tract infections.
General: Tiredness and headache. Resting and keeping well hydrated can help with headaches.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most of the side effects resolve on discontinuation of the tablet and are temporary and, in the majority of cases, do not require medical attention. If you experience disturbed sleep patterns after taking this tablet, discuss the dosage timing with your doctor. Pirmax 200 Tablet contains the following component:

Pirfenidone (200 mg): Pirfenidone works by inhibiting the production of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a protein that plays a key role in the formation of scar tissue in the lungs. By blocking TGF-β, it helps reduce fibrosis (scar tissue buildup) and inflammation, thereby preserving lung function in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Pregnancy

Pirmax 200 Tablet should be used with caution during pregnancy, as its safety is not well established. Consult your doctor before starting this medication.

Breastfeeding

Alcohol
