Neovec 4mg Injection is used to produce skeletal muscle relaxation during surgical procedures under general anaesthesia. It facilitates endotracheal intubation and provides the muscle relaxation required for certain surgical and intensive care interventions.
It contains vecuronium, a non-depolarising neuromuscular blocking agent that blocks acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, preventing nerve impulses from reaching the muscles. This produces controlled, reversible muscle relaxation without affecting consciousness.
This injection is administered exclusively by an anaesthetist or trained medical professional in a controlled clinical setting. The dose is calculated based on body weight and the procedure involved. Its effects are reversed at the end of the procedure using appropriate reversal agents.
Respiratory depression and muscle weakness are expected pharmacological effects of this medicine under anaesthesia and are managed by the medical team. Bradycardia or low blood pressure may occasionally occur and are monitored throughout the procedure.
