Mortega Tablet 10

Mortega Tablet is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections across different body systems in adults.

Uses of Mortega Tablet are:

• Respiratory and Ear Infections: Treats upper and lower airway infections such as sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and middle ear infection (otitis media).
• Urinary and Genital Infections: Helps manage bacterial urinary tract infections and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.
• Skin, Soft Tissue, and Dental Infections: Controls bacterial skin infections, soft tissue swelling, and dental abscesses or tooth-related infections.
• Typhoid Fever: Treats enteric fever (typhoid) caused by susceptible bacterial strains.

To use Mortega Tablet, follow these instructions:

• Follow the dosage and timing instructions provided by your doctor precisely.

• Do not change or exceed the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

• Consult your doctor before discontinuing the medication; do not stop taking it without their guidance.

• Adhere to the dietary recommendations given by your doctor.

Mortega Tablet is taken orally.

Mortega Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Cefixime (200 mg): This component works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. PBPs play a vital role in creating the bacterial cell wall. By inactivating PBPs, cefixime interferes with the construction of peptidoglycan chains that are necessary for cell wall strength and rigidity, causing bacterial cell death.

• Sulbactam (150 mg): Although sulbactam doesn't have antibacterial activity on its own, it acts as an irreversible inhibitor of beta-lactamases produced by bacteria resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. It binds to the active site of beta-lactamase preventing it from destroying cefixime. This enhances cefixime's activity against many otherwise resistant strains.

• Store Mortega Tablet at room temperature.

• Protect it from exposure to light and moisture.

• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Use the medicine before its expiry date, as mentioned on the pack.

• If you have a urinary tract or respiratory infection, increase your fluid intake. This can help flush bacteria from your system.

• If you're managing skin infections, maintain good hygiene and avoid touching or scratching the infected area to prevent spreading the bacteria.
