Metroquin O 200/500 Tablet is used to treat mixed bacterial and protozoal infections affecting the digestive, urinary and respiratory systems, helping clear infection-causing organisms and relieve symptoms such as diarrhoea and pain.
It combines metronidazole, which treats protozoal and certain bacterial infections, with ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Take the tablet as prescribed, generally with food to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve early, as stopping treatment before it is finished can allow the infection to return.
Drinking plenty of fluids helps replace losses from diarrhoea and supports recovery. Avoiding alcohol during treatment and for at least 24 to 48 hours afterwards is important, as it can cause nausea and flushing with this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, epilepsy, tendon problems, or are taking other medicines. Report any tendon pain or swelling, persistent diarrhoea, or numbness and tingling in the hands or feet, and avoid this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by your doctor.
