CompositionMETOPROL XL AM TABLET 15 is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prevent the chest pain of angina in adults. By relaxing the blood vessels and slowing the heart rate, it reduces the strain on the heart and lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke.
It combines amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that relaxes the blood vessels, and metoprolol succinate, a selective beta-blocker that slows the heart rate. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause a sharp rise in heart rate or blood pressure.
