Metoprol XL AM Tablet 15 is used to control high blood pressure and to prevent the chest pain of angina in adults. It is a combination medicine containing amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and metoprolol succinate, a selective beta-blocker.
By relaxing the blood vessels and slowing the heart rate, this medicine reduces the strain on the heart and lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause a sharp rise in heart rate or blood pressure.
Reducing salt in your diet, staying active within your doctor's advice, maintaining a healthy weight and quitting smoking support better blood pressure control alongside this medicine.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any asthma, a very slow heart rate or diabetes, and about other medicines you take. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects such as marked breathlessness or dizziness, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
