Metharmed Injection 1 ml is used for the following.

Uses of Metharmed Injection 1 ml are:

• Postpartum Haemorrhage: Helps prevent excessive bleeding after childbirth.
• Uterine Atony: Manages poor contraction of the uterus post-delivery.

Administer Metharmed Injection 1ml as outlined below:

• This medicine is administered by a healthcare professional, usually in a hospital setting.

• It is given intramuscularly or intravenously immediately after delivery.

• The injection should be administered slowly, over at least 60 seconds.

• Remember that it's important to consult your doctor for specific advice on how to use this medicine.

Metharmed Injection 1ml is administered intravenously or intramuscularly.

Metharmed Injection 1ml contains methylergometrine (0.20mg), which works in the body as follows:

• Induces Uterine Contractions: Methylergometrine stimulates the smooth muscle fibres of the uterus, causing them to contract more forcefully and frequently. This action helps to deliver the placenta and to clamp down the uterus after childbirth.

• Reduces Blood Loss: By promoting strong and sustained uterine contractions, methylergometrine aids in compressing the blood vessels in the uterus. This reduces blood flow and helps manage postpartum haemorrhage.

• Vasoconstriction Effect: Methylergometrine also has a vasoconstrictive effect on uterine vasculature, which means it narrows the blood vessels in the uterus. This further aids in controlling bleeding after childbirth.

• Store Metharmed Injection 1ml in the refrigerator or (2°C - 8°C). Do Not Freeze.

• Keep the product out of direct light.

• Always keep it out of reach of children.

• Use this medicine before the expiry date printed on the pack.

• If you have high blood pressure, consider reducing your salt intake. Metharmed Injection 1ml is used with caution in patients with hypertension, and a low-salt diet can help manage this condition.

• Avoid strenuous physical activities immediately after childbirth. As this medicine is used for managing postpartum bleeding, rest and gentle movements are advised during recovery.
