Lizomed 100mg Dry Syrup is used to treat severe and resistant bacterial infections in paediatric patients.

Uses of Lizomed 100mg Dry Syrup are:

• Pneumonia Treatment: Treats hospital-acquired (nosocomial) and community-acquired bacterial lung infections in children.
• Complicated Skin Infections: Manages deep or severe bacterial infections affecting the skin and underlying tissues.
• Drug-Resistant Bacterial Infections: Treats serious infections caused by Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE).

Here's how you should give Lizomed Dry Syrup to your child:

• Add sterile water slowly to the bottle containing dry powder.

• Dissolve the dry powder in sterile water.

• Make up the volume to the mark.

• The reconstituted suspension should be used within 7 days after preparation.

• Store the reconstituted oral suspension in a refrigerator.

Lizomed Dry Syrup contains linezolid (100 mg), which acts on the body as follows:

• Bacterial Protein Synthesis Inhibition: Linezolid works by blocking a crucial process in bacteria called protein synthesis. This process is vital for bacterial survival and growth.

• Bacteriostatic and Bactericidal Action: Against enterococci and staphylococci bacteria, linezolid acts in a bacteriostatic manner, meaning it prevents these bacteria from growing. Against streptococci bacteria, it acts in a bactericidal manner, meaning it kills these bacteria outright.

• Activity against Gram-positive Bacteria: Linezolid is active against a group of bacteria known as Gram-positive bacteria. These include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), a hard-to-manage type of bacteria that's resistant to many common antibiotics.

• Store Lizomed Dry Syrup at room temperature below 25°C. Do not freeze it.

• Ensure the product is kept away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Store the reconstituted suspension in the refrigerator and use it within 7 days.

• When your child is taking Lizomed Dry Syrup for pneumonia, ensure a diet rich in Vitamin C to boost their immune system. Foods like oranges, strawberries and spinach can be beneficial.

• If your child is being given this medication for skin infections, maintain good personal hygiene. Regular baths and clean clothes can help prevent further infection.
