Lipvas ASP Capsule is used for the following:

• Lowering high total cholesterol levels and bad cholesterol, also known as LDL-C

• Increasing good cholesterol levels, known as HDL-C

• Managing mixed dyslipidemia, a condition where both fats and cholesterol are high

• Reducing the risk of death and non-fatal stroke after a minor stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA)

• Preventing death and non-fatal heart attacks in patients who have had a heart attack or unstable chest pain

• Reducing the risk of heart attacks and sudden death in people with chronic stable chest pain

• Use after procedures to restore blood flow when aspirin use is indicated

Here's how you should take Lipvas ASP Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, dissolving or chewing the capsule.

• This medicine can be taken with or without food.

• If you are taking bile acid sequestrants, take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after those medicines.

Lipvas ASP Capsule is taken orally.

Lipvas ASP Capsule incorporates two active ingredients:

• Atorvastatin (20 mg): This statin works by competitively inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, a crucial enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. Doing so reduces LDL-C (the 'bad' cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides while increasing HDL-C (the 'good' cholesterol). This action leads to lower overall blood cholesterol levels.

• Aspirin (75 mg): A platelet aggregation inhibitor, aspirin irreversibly inhibits an enzyme in platelets known as cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1). This prevents the synthesis of thromboxane A2, a substance that causes platelets to clump together or aggregate. The inhibition of this process confers antiplatelet effects, helping prevent blood clots and reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
