I-Pill 1.5 Tablet is an emergency contraceptive pill used to reduce the chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex or when a regular contraceptive method has failed. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing levonorgestrel, and belongs to a class of medicines called progestogen emergency contraceptives.
This medicine works by preventing or delaying the release of an egg from the ovary, and it may also stop sperm from fertilising an egg. It will not work if you are already pregnant and does not cause an abortion. Take it by mouth as soon as possible after unprotected sex, and no later than 72 hours afterwards, as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
This is for emergency use only and should not be used as a regular method of contraception. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections, and your next period may come earlier or later than expected.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you may already be pregnant, have liver problems, or take medicines such as rifampicin, antiepileptics or St John's wort, which can make it less effective. Seek medical help if you have severe lower abdominal pain, or if your period is more than a week late.
