HYCHLORZIDE 12.5 TABLET 10 is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce fluid retention (oedema) linked to conditions such as heart failure, liver problems and kidney disorders. By helping the body clear excess salt and water, it lowers blood pressure and eases swelling.
It contains hydrochlorothiazide, which belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics ("water tablets"). Take it as prescribed, preferably in the morning so you are not woken at night to pass urine.
Following any advice on salt and fluids, standing up slowly to avoid dizziness, and keeping to a healthy weight support your treatment alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, gout or diabetes before starting, and about other medicines you take. Regular blood tests check your kidneys and salts. Report marked dizziness, muscle cramps or signs of dehydration.
