CompositionGlencoff DX Syrup is a medicine used to treat a dry cough and the common symptoms of upper respiratory allergies such as hay fever. It gives relief from throat irritation, sneezing and a runny nose.
It contains chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine that helps dry up a runny nose and reduce itchy eyes, and dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant that acts on the brain's cough centre to reduce the urge to cough. Take it as prescribed by your doctor, usually every 6 to 8 hours. It may cause mild drowsiness in some people.
Getting adequate rest, drinking warm fluids and avoiding smoke or other throat irritants can help support recovery from a cold or cough alongside this medicine. Using a humidifier or steam inhalation may also help ease throat irritation.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, or breathing problems such as asthma. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsy after taking this medicine. Consult your doctor if your cough lasts more than a week or is accompanied by high fever.
