CompositionGLANIKNASE INJECTION 1 is used to dissolve life-threatening blood clots that form within blood vessels. It is used in emergency situations such as acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs), deep vein thrombosis, and certain cases of acute ischaemic stroke, where appropriate, to restore blood flow and limit serious organ damage.
It contains streptokinase and belongs to a group of medicines called thrombolytics (clot-dissolving agents). It is given in a hospital setting under close medical supervision, usually into a vein. Treatment is time-sensitive and must be started as soon as possible following diagnosis.
No specific dietary changes are required during this emergency treatment. Patients should remain under close observation throughout the course of treatment and report any symptoms of bleeding immediately to the care team.
Before receiving this medicine, inform the treating team of any recent surgery, bleeding disorders, stroke history, severe high blood pressure, or blood-thinning medicines you are currently taking, as these may affect suitability. Report any unusual bleeding, bruising, or signs of an allergic reaction during treatment. This medicine should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk and under specialist medical supervision.
