Oflacin Eye Ointment is used for the following conditions:

• Managing bacterial conjunctivitis, a condition leading to inflammation of the eye's outermost layer.
• Handling other superficial bacterial ocular infections, which are surface-level eye
  infections.
• Preventing potential bacterial infections in the eyes after certain procedures or injuries.

To maximise the effectiveness of Oflacin Eye Ointment, follow these instructions:

• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before applying the ointment.
• Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
• Squeeze a small amount (approximately 1 cm ribbon) of Oflacin Eye Ointment into the pocket formed by the lower eyelid.
• Be careful not to touch the tip of the ointment tube to your eye, eyelid, or any other surface to avoid contamination.
• After applying the ointment, gently close your eye for 1-2 minutes to allow the medication to spread evenly. Avoid blinking excessively.
• Use the ointment exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dosage is 1-2 applications daily or as directed by your healthcare provider.
• Wipe any excess ointment gently from the eyelids with a clean tissue.

Oflacin Eye Ointment is used topically.

Oflacin Eye Ointment contain ofloxacin (0.3%), which acts on your body as follows:

• Inhibits bacterial enzymes: Ofloxacin works by inhibiting certain enzymes in bacteria, namely DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes play a crucial role in unwinding and duplicating bacterial DNA, which is necessary for the bacteria to reproduce and spread.
• Stops bacterial growth: By blocking these key enzymes, ofloxacin effectively halts the multiplication and spread of the infection within your body.
• Broad-spectrum activity: Ofloxacin can act against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. This means it can manage infections caused by different types of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, among others.

• Keep Oflacin Eye Ointment at room temperature in a cool, dry place.
• Ensure the bottle is tightly sealed when not in use.
• Store it away from direct sunlight and heat.
• Do not keep in places with excessive moisture, like the bathroom.
• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• If you're suffering from bacterial conjunctivitis, avoid touching or rubbing your eyes, as it may spread the infection. Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after instilling Oflacin Eye Ointment.
• Wear sunglasses outside to protect your eyes from dust, pollen, and sunlight that can aggravate symptoms. Refrain from wearing contact lenses until your doctor advises it's safe to do so.
