Dexoren*-S Eye/Ear Drops are used for the following:

• Managing bacterial infections in the eyes, such as conjunctivitis

• Handling inflammation and swelling associated with eye infections

• Controlling bacterial infections in the ears, including otitis externa

• Reducing discomfort and inflammation related to ear infections

• Keeping bacterial contamination at bay in multi-dose solutions

Follow these instructions while using Dexoren*-S Eye/Ear Drops:

• Before using, ensure your hands are clean to avoid further infection.

• Tilt your head back for eye application or sideways for ear application.

• Squeeze out the prescribed amount of drops into the affected eye or ear as required.

• Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.

• After application, gently close your eyes or keep your head tilted for a few minutes.

• If you're using other eye or ear medications, wait for at least 10 minutes before applying them.

Dexoren*-S Eye/Ear Drops comprises three active ingredients:

• Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate (0.1%): This ingredient is a powerful corticosteroid that manages inflammation by blocking the movement of certain white blood cells called polymorphonuclear leukocytes and decreasing the permeability of blood vessels (making them less leaky). This action reduces swelling, redness, and discomfort.

• Chloramphenicol (0.5%): As a broad-spectrum antibiotic, chloramphenicol works by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins in bacteria. It attaches itself to a part of the bacterial cell known as the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing these cells from producing proteins vital for their growth and reproduction.

• Phenylmercuric Nitrate (0.001%): This component acts as an antimicrobial preservative which ensures that the eye/ear drop solution remains free from bacterial contamination.

• Store Dexoren*-S Eye/Ear Drops in a cool and dark place at room temperature, ideally between 15 to 25°C.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and damp areas like the bathroom; moisture can affect the medicine.

• Always keep out of reach of children.

• If you are managing eye or ear infections with Dexoren*-S Eye/Ear Drops, consider increasing your intake of foods rich in Vitamin C. This vitamin boosts your immune system and helps fight off infections quicker. Citrus fruits, strawberries, bell peppers, and spinach are good sources.

• Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or dirty water bodies while dealing with an ear infection to prevent worsening the condition. Chlorine can irritate your ears further, and dirty water can introduce new bacteria into your already infected ear.
