Cypon Oral Drops is used to improve appetite in children with poor appetite, including during recovery from illness. It is a combination medicine containing cyproheptadine, an antihistamine with appetite-stimulating effects, and tricholine citrate.
This medicine may also help ease mild allergic symptoms such as itching, sneezing and a runny nose. Give the exact dose prescribed by the doctor using the dropper provided, usually before meals. Improvement in appetite may take a few weeks.
Offer small, frequent, nutritious meals and snacks, keep mealtimes calm and regular, and avoid filling your child up with sugary drinks or snacks before meals. Do not force your child to eat.
This medicine must not be given to children under 2 years of age. Before giving it, tell the doctor if your child has asthma, epilepsy, liver problems, difficulty passing urine, or is taking any other medicines. It commonly causes drowsiness. Stop giving it and contact the doctor if your child becomes unusually sleepy, excitable or confused, has a fast heartbeat, or has breathing problems. If poor appetite or weight loss continues, speak to your doctor, as the cause may need checking. Do not stop giving this medicine unless the doctor advises you to do so.
