Cyp L Syrup is an appetite-stimulating syrup used to improve appetite and support healthy weight gain in people with poor nutritional intake, including those recovering from malnutrition, chronic illness or wasting conditions. It is a combination medicine containing cyproheptadine (an antihistamine that also increases appetite) and tricholine citrate (which supports fat metabolism and liver function), and belongs to a class of medicines called appetite stimulants.
This medicine works by acting on the appetite centre in the brain to increase hunger, while tricholine citrate supports the way the liver handles fats. Take the syrup as prescribed, preferably before meals, and measure the dose with a proper measuring device.
Eating small, frequent, nutrient-rich meals and including protein-rich foods in your diet can help you gain the most benefit from this medicine. Avoid driving until you know how it affects you, as it may cause drowsiness.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, asthma, or take sedatives or other antihistamines, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek advice if you have excessive drowsiness or difficulty passing urine.
