CompositionCPM Tablet is used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, a runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and skin itching or hives. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing chlorpheniramine maleate. It belongs to the class of medicines called first-generation antihistamines.
This medicine is also used for allergic rhinitis, hay fever, urticaria and itching associated with certain allergic skin reactions or insect bites. It helps control allergy symptoms but does not treat the underlying cause or prevent future allergic reactions. Take the tablet with or without food, in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. It may cause drowsiness, so avoid activities requiring alertness until you know how it affects you.
Avoiding known allergens such as pollen, dust mites and pet dander may help reduce allergic symptoms. Washing bedding regularly and limiting exposure to personal allergy triggers can complement prescribed treatment.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, difficulty passing urine, epilepsy, breathing problems, heart disease, or kidney or liver impairment. Tell your doctor about other medicines, supplements or herbal products you use, particularly sleeping medicines and other antihistamines. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol during treatment and report persistent or serious side effects. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
