It is a combination medicine containing clobetasol, a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, and gentamicin, an antibiotic that clears the bacteria causing the infection, and belongs to a class of medicines called topical corticosteroid and antibiotic combinations.
This medicine works by calming the inflammation in the skin while gentamicin stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to survive, which helps the skin heal. Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin as directed. It is for external use only, so keep it away from broken skin and the area around the eyes.
Use it for the shortest time prescribed, and avoid applying it to the face or skin folds unless your doctor advises. Prolonged use can cause skin thinning.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any other skin conditions, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use it on children unless their doctor advises, and check with your doctor if your skin condition worsens or does not improve after a few days.
