• Penicillin-Binding Proteins Inhibition: Cefpodoxime Proxetil targets specific enzymes called penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) present inside the bacterial cell wall. PBPs are responsible for constructing and reshaping the cell wall during bacterial division.
• Peptidoglycan Chains Disruption: By inhibiting these PBPs, Cefpodoxime Proxetil disrupts the formation of peptidoglycan chains that provide strength and rigidity to the bacterial cell wall.
• Cell Lysis Induction: This disruption causes the bacterial cell wall to weaken and eventually break down, leading to a process called cell lysis, in which the bacteria break open and die.
