Azithro-250 Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections in the lungs, throat, ear and skin. It contains azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, and is also used to manage certain susceptible sexually transmitted infections and in typhoid fever.
Azithromycin works by stopping bacteria from producing the proteins they need to grow and multiply, which clears the infection, and its long-lasting effect in the body usually allows for a short treatment course.
Take this tablet as prescribed, with or without food, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and complete the full course even if you feel better before it is finished.
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or a heart rhythm problem, as azithromycin can rarely affect the heart's electrical activity. Report persistent loose motions (diarrhoea) during or after treatment.
