Autoclav Ds 400/57 Mg Dry Syrup 30 Ml is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in children, including infections of the ear, nose, throat, urinary tract and soft tissues. It is a combination medicine containing amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and clavulanic acid (which protects amoxicillin from being broken down by bacteria), and belongs to a class of medicines called penicillin antibiotic and beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations.
This medicine works by killing bacteria or stopping them from multiplying, while clavulanic acid helps it work against bacteria that would otherwise resist amoxicillin. Shake the bottle well before each dose and use the measuring cup or syringe provided. Giving it with food may help reduce mild stomach upset. Always complete the full course even if your child starts feeling better.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids while recovering. This antibiotic works only against bacterial infections and not viral infections such as colds or flu, and unnecessary use can make antibiotics less effective in future (antibiotic resistance).
Before giving this medicine, tell your child's doctor if your child has any allergy, especially to penicillin or other antibiotics, or any digestive or other medical problems. If your child has severe or persistent diarrhoea, a rash or swelling of the face, contact your child's doctor promptly.
