Augmentin ES Suspension is used for the management of recurrent or persistent acute otitis media (ear infection) in children when the infection is strongly suspected to be caused by specific beta-lactamase producing strains of bacteria that are resistant to standard antibiotics.

Follow these instructions while giving Augmentin ES Suspension to your child:

• Ensure you shake the bottle well before each use.

• Measure the exact dose as recommended by your doctor using a spoon or cup.

• The medicine can be given to your child with or without food.

• Remember that this medicine is a dry syrup and needs to be stored under refrigeration after reconstitution.

• For any further instructions, refer to the package insert and always consult your child's doctor.

Augmentin ES Suspension is given orally to your child.

Augmentin ES Suspension contains:

• Amoxicillin (600 mg): This antibiotic works by stopping the growth of bacteria. It does so by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which is crucial for their survival. The inability to form cell walls causes the bacteria to burst and die.

• Clavulanic Acid (42.9 mg): Clavulanic acid itself doesn't kill bacteria but enhances the effectiveness of amoxicillin. It works by blocking certain enzymes produced by bacteria that would otherwise make them resistant to amoxicillin.

Together, these two ingredients work synergistically in Augmentin ES Suspension, providing an effective solution to manage various bacterial infections in children.

• Store in a dry place in the original package to protect it from moisture. Store below 30°C.

• Once reconstituted, it must be stored in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) and used within 10 days. Do not freeze.

• Keep away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Always store out of reach of children.

• Ensure your child maintains proper hydration, as Augmentin ES Suspension may cause diarrhoea in some cases.
