Atrosulph 1% Eye Drops 5ml

Atrosulph 1% Eye Drops 5ml are used for the following:

• Dilating pupils before eye examinations

• Managing eye inflammation

• Slowing progression of myopia in children

• Treating lazy eye (amblyopia)

• Relaxing eye muscles during procedures

• Reducing eye redness and swelling

• Preventing focusing spasms in the eye

• Supporting vision correction therapy

Atrosulph 1% Eye Drops 5ml are used to dilate pupils before eye examinations and procedures and to manage eye inflammation, redness, and swelling. They may also be used to support the management of myopia progression in children, treat amblyopia (lazy eye), prevent focusing spasms, and assist in vision correction therapy.

Atrosulph 1% Eye Drops 5ml are instilled topically.

Atrosulph 1% Eye Drops 5ml contain atropine (1%), which works on the eyes in the following ways:

• Muscarinic receptor blockade: Atropine blocks specific receptors called muscarinic receptors in the eye muscles, causing the muscles responsible for pupil constriction to relax, resulting in pupil dilation.

• Ciliary muscle paralysis: This medicine temporarily paralyses the ciliary muscles, which affects the eye's ability to focus on close objects, a process known as accommodation.

• Dopamine modulation: By influencing dopamine levels in the eye, atropine helps alter eye growth patterns, which is particularly useful in slowing down the progression of myopia (near-sightedness).

• Inflammation reduction: Atropine helps reduce swelling and redness in the eye by interfering with certain inflammatory pathways.

• Store Atrosulph 1% Eye Drops 5ml at temperatures below 25°C.

• Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children to prevent accidental use.

• Do not use the eye drops after the expiry date printed on the packaging.

• When managing myopia (near-sightedness), spend at least 2 hours daily outdoors in natural light, as studies show outdoor activity can help slow myopia progression.

• Reduce eye strain by following the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds to give your focusing muscles a break.
