It contains atorvastatin, a statin that lowers harmful LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and may increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol. Take it as prescribed, at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue taking it regularly even when you feel well, as cholesterol control is a long-term process.
Following a diet low in saturated fat, staying physically active, maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol support better cholesterol control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have liver disease or a history of muscle problems before starting. Report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, or dark-coloured urine promptly, as these can be signs of a rare but serious muscle problem.
