It is a combination medicine containing rabeprazole, which reduces stomach acid, and levosulpiride, which helps the stomach and gut move food along, and belongs to classes of medicines called proton pump inhibitors and prokinetic agents.
This medicine works by switching off the acid pumps in the stomach lining to lower acid production, while also improving the movement of the stomach and gut so that food and acid clear more quickly, which eases heartburn, bloating and abdominal discomfort. Take it as directed by your doctor and use the dose and duration your doctor prescribes.
Eating smaller meals, avoiding spicy and fatty foods, not lying down soon after eating and limiting smoking and alcohol can help reduce reflux symptoms alongside this treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any other medical conditions, or take other medicines, supplements or herbal products. Long-term use of acid-lowering medicines can lower magnesium and vitamin B12 levels and may increase the risk of bone fractures, so use it only for as long as your doctor advises.
