Alropan Iv Injection 1 is used to treat severe acid-related conditions such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is given to patients in hospital with severe heartburn, acid regurgitation, and stomach discomfort, and is useful when medicines by mouth cannot be tolerated or rapid reduction of stomach acid is required. It contains pantoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that blocks the acid pumps in the stomach lining, sharply reducing acid, which lets the food pipe and stomach lining heal and helps prevent stress-related ulcers.
It is given by a healthcare professional as a slow injection or drip, usually as a short-term treatment until you can switch to tablets. Consult your doctor before treatment, and tell them if you have severe liver disease or low magnesium levels.
