Alphatab Tablet 10 is a nutritional supplement used to support people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It provides building blocks (alpha-ketoanalogues) that help the body maintain a healthy balance of amino acids without adding to the waste products the kidneys must remove.
It is used together with a closely monitored low-protein diet. By reducing the build-up of waste products, it lessens the burden on the kidneys, may help slow the progression of kidney disease, and can help manage a related problem called metabolic acidosis. Take it as directed by your doctor, usually with meals.
Some general measures are an important part of treatment. These include following your prescribed low-protein diet closely and attending regular blood tests to monitor kidney function and your blood salts.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any calcium problems or other medicines you take. Take it at a different time from certain other medicines if advised, as it can affect how they are absorbed. Tell your doctor about ongoing stomach upset, loss of appetite, or a rash. Continue taking it for the full duration prescribed alongside your diet, and do not stop it without medical advice.
