ALDROFOS 70MG TABLET 4 is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis (weak, fragile bones) in women after the menopause and in men, including bone loss caused by long-term steroid use. It is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone. It helps strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fractures.
It contains alendronic acid, which belongs to a group of medicines called bisphosphonates. Take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with a full glass of plain water, then stay upright (sitting or standing) and do not eat, drink or lie down for at least 30 minutes.
Eating a calcium-rich diet, getting enough vitamin D, doing weight-bearing activity and quitting smoking support bone health alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any swallowing problems, stomach problems or kidney problems before starting, and about any planned dental work, and about other medicines you take. Report difficulty or pain on swallowing, heartburn, or new thigh, hip or jaw pain.
