Composition3 Vc Vaginal Suppositories 3 is used to treat mixed vaginal infections, such as bacterial vaginosis together with vaginal yeast infection (thrush), which cause abnormal discharge, itching and odour. It is a combination medicine containing clindamycin 100mg, an antibiotic, and clotrimazole 200mg, an antifungal.
Clindamycin treats the bacterial infection, while clotrimazole treats the yeast infection. Insert one suppository high into the vagina at bedtime for 3 nights, as prescribed, and complete the course even if symptoms improve.
Wearing loose cotton underwear, washing the genital area with plain water, and avoiding douching and scented products support recovery. Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment.
This medicine is for vaginal use only; do not swallow it. It can weaken latex condoms and diaphragms for a few days, so use another method of contraception. Before using it, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of colitis or inflammatory bowel disease. Clindamycin can rarely cause a serious bowel infection, so contact your doctor straight away if you develop severe or bloody diarrhoea. Seek medical help for fever, lower tummy pain, or severe irritation. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
