• Clindamycin + Clotrimazole is available via the vaginal route (gel and suppository).

Age And Dose Restrictions

• This combination should be used by adults only. 

Contraindications 

• Clindamycin + Clotrimazole is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to Clindamycin or Clotrimazole.

Medications To Avoid With This Drug 

• Avoid taking neuromuscular blocking agents and immunosuppressive medications (Tacrolimus) with this combination.

Overdose And Missed Dose

• There is no risk of overdosage as it is for intravaginal application only. However, if this medicine is ingested accidentally, then visit the hospital immediately.
• If you miss a dose of Clindamycin + Clotrimazole, use it as soon as you remember. But, if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dosing regime.

Management of side effects 

• The side effects of this combination are temporary and resolve on discontinuation. If side effects worsen or persist, consult your doctor for a possible treatment plan adjustment.

Use In Driving And Operating Machinery

• It is unlikely to impair the mental alertness or coordination required while driving.

Use In Pregnancy And Lactation

• Caution is advised for the use of Clindamycin + Clotrimazole in pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Caution In Other Conditions

• It should also be cautiously by those experiencing irregular vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal bleeding or a blood-stained discharge, vulval or vaginal ulcers, blisters or sores, lower abdominal pain or dysuria, any adverse events such as redness, irritation or swelling associated with the treatment, fever or chills, nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, and foul-smelling vaginal discharge.
• It should also be cautiously administered in older women as the vaginal tissues of older women may be more delicate and prone to dryness. 

Special Dietary And Lifestyle Recommendation

• Do not use it during menstruation.
• Avoid engaging in vaginal intercourse or use of other vaginal products (such as tampons or douches) during treatment with this combination.
• Practice hygiene by washing the external genital area with mild, unscented soap and water. Avoid douching, as it disrupts the natural balance of the vaginal flora and can increase the risk of infections.
• Avoid scented products, including soaps, detergents, feminine hygiene sprays, and scented products. These can irritate the delicate vaginal tissues and disrupt the natural pH balance.

• Bacterial vaginosis (BV) occurs when normal bacteria in the vagina are imbalanced. It typically affects women of reproductive age and is not classified as a sexually transmitted infection, although sexual activity can trigger it. Symptoms may include a thin grey or white vaginal discharge, a strong fishy odour, and mild irritation or itching. However, some women may not experience any symptoms. BV usually results from harmful bacteria overgrowing and replacing the healthy lactobacilli. Treatment includes antibiotics, either in tablet form or as topical gels. It’s essential to complete the full course of treatment. During the treatment, avoid using scented soaps or vaginal douches, which can disrupt the natural vaginal flora.
