XIOFLO SUSPENSION 60 ML is used to treat bacterial infections in children, including pneumonia, typhoid fever, infectious diarrhoea, and infections of the skin, eyes, ears, bones, joints, and urinary tract.
It contains ofloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone class. Give the suspension by mouth using the measuring cup provided, with or without food. It should only be used for infections confirmed or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria, and the full course must be completed even if your child feels better, to help prevent the infection from returning.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids during the course of treatment, as this supports recovery from infection and helps the kidneys clear the medicine from the body.
Before giving this suspension, tell your doctor about any history of joint or tendon problems, epilepsy, or kidney disease. Tell your doctor if your child develops joint pain, swelling, or difficulty moving a limb during treatment, as fluoroquinolones can occasionally affect growing joints in children. Avoid excessive sun exposure, as this medicine can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight.
