Xalacom Eye Drops are used to treat open-angle glaucoma and high pressure within the eye. By lowering the internal pressure of the eye, it prevents damage to the optic nerve and preserves long-term vision. This combination drop is often prescribed for patients who need more significant pressure reduction than a single medication can provide.
These drops contain Latanoprost and Timolol. Latanoprost is a prostaglandin analogue that increases the natural drainage of fluid out of the eye. Timolol is a beta-blocker that reduces the amount of new fluid the eye produces. By simultaneously ""opening the drain"" and ""turning down the faucet,"" these drops provide powerful and consistent control over intraocular pressure.
Apply the drops exactly as prescribed, usually once daily in the evening. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before use and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. Consult your ophthalmologist if you notice a change in your eye color or eyelash growth, as these are known effects of the Latanoprost component.
