Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 is an antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including chest, skin, urinary and certain sexually transmitted infections, and it is used to help prevent infection around surgery.

It contains minocycline, a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by stopping bacteria making the proteins they need to grow.

Take it with a full glass of water, and stay upright for a while afterwards. It can make the skin more sensitive to the sun.

It is not suitable in pregnancy or for young children, as tetracyclines can affect developing teeth and bones. Report severe headache with vision changes, dizziness, or a skin rash. Use sunscreen outdoors.

Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 is used to treat bacterial infections.

Uses of Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 are:

Skin and Chest Infections: Treats skin, chest and other bacterial infections.
Sexually Transmitted Infections: Treats certain sexually transmitted infections.
Around Surgery: Helps prevent infection before and after surgery.

Take Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 in the following way:

This medicine should be taken as prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow it with water, preferably after food, to prevent nausea.
Do not cut, break, or chew the medicine.
It would be best to take it at a fixed time for optimal results.

Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 may cause side effects, but not everyone gets them.

Nervous System: Dizziness, light-headedness and a spinning sensation (vertigo).
Digestive and General: Diarrhoea and headache; use sunscreen, as the skin can become sun-sensitive.

Minocycline (100 mg): It is a tetracycline antibiotic that acts by binding to a part of the bacterial ribosomes which are responsible for protein synthesis, thus preventing the protein synthesis in the bacteria.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant it is not advisable to take this medicine as it harms the unborn baby. It is best to consult the doctor before use.

Breastfeeding

Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 may pass into the breastmilk so, it is advisable not to take this medicine. It is best to consult the doctor before use.

Alcohol

Talk to your doctor if you are consuming alcohol while taking Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 as it can increase the risk of side effects like dizziness, and drowsiness.

Liver

Be cautious about the use of this medicine in case you have any liver diseases. Also, periodic liver function tests are advisable if the duration of treatment is more than six months. Consult your doctor for advice while in treatment.

Kidney

Anticoagulant medications such as warfarin. The concomitant use of this tablet requires dosage adjustment of the anticoagulant medications.
Beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins. This tablet, when taken with beta-lactam antibiotics, can interfere with the bactericidal action of the beta-lactam antibiotics.
Antacids containing aluminium, calcium, magnesium, and iron-containing preparations. The concomitant use of antacids with this tablet can impair the absorption of this tablet.
Volatile anaesthetics such as methoxyflurane. The concomitant use of volatile anesthetics and this table can result in fatal renal toxicity.
Oral contraceptives such as ethinylestradiol. The concomitant use of this tablet with oral contraceptives can lead to reduced effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
Retinoids such as isotretinoin. The concomitant use of this tablet with retinoids can result in idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
Ergot alkaloids such as methysergide. The concomitant use of this tablet with ergot alkaloids can cause ergotism.

Vicyn 100 Tablet 10 can interact with diseases/conditions, including:

Myasthenia gravis: The use of this tablet in myasthenia gravis can cause neuromuscular blockade.
Liver diseases: The use of this tablet for the long term can further worsen this condition.
Kidney diseases: The use of this tablet for the long term can further worsen this condition.
Systemic lupus erythematosus: The use of this tablet can further worsen this condition.
Intracranial hypertension: The use of this tablet can further increase intracranial hypertension.
Sensitivity to sunlight: This tablet can make your skin sensitive to sunlight.

Daily Dose

The recommended daily dose of this medicine should be taken as per the doctor's prescription. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as age, severity of the condition, and response to treatment.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive amount of this medicine by accident, it is essential to take the patient to the nearest doctor. The overdose symptoms include dizziness, feeling or being sick.
