Unifolin 15 MG Injection 2 ML is used for the following:

• Protection during high-dose methotrexate cancer therapy

• Treatment of accidental methotrexate overdose

• Management of folic acid antagonist overdose

• Treatment of megaloblastic anaemia from folic acid deficiency

• Counteracting toxicity from trimethoprim overdose

• Management of the harmful effects of pyrimethamine overdose

• Protection of healthy cells during cancer treatment

• Supporting patients receiving chemotherapy treatment

• This injection must only be administered by qualified healthcare professionals.

• The injection should be given in a proper clinical setting.

• The medicine should not be administered into the spinal canal.

Unifolin 15 MG Injection 2 ML is administered intravenously.

Unifolin 15 MG Injection 2 ML contains leucovorin calcium (15 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Folic acid replacement: Leucovorin calcium acts as an active form of folic acid in your body, providing essential nutrients that healthy cells need to function properly.

• Selective protection: It shields normal, healthy cells from the harmful effects of certain chemotherapy medications while allowing these medications to continue attacking cancer cells.

• Methotrexate counteraction: When used as an antidote, it works by competing with methotrexate for the same transport mechanisms into cells, helping to reverse the toxic effects of overdose.

• Cellular rescue: It bypasses the blocked metabolic pathway caused by methotrexate, allowing healthy cells to continue their normal functions and division.

• When undergoing cancer treatment, stay well-hydrated by drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water daily to help your body process and eliminate the chemotherapy medicine more effectively.
