Terlieon Injection is used in the treatment of bleeding esophageal varices (bleeding from dilated veins in the food pipe leading to your stomach). It narrows the walls of blood vessels and decreases the blood flow into the affected veins. This medication belongs to a class known as vasoconstrictors.
Additionally, it can be used for managing other conditions related to cirrhosis and portal hypertension, like hepatorenal syndrome type 1 (a type of kidney failure in advanced liver disease) and refractory ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdomen unresponsive to standard diuretic therapy).
Before starting this medicine, always inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions or ongoing medications. If you experience any side effects, notify your doctor immediately. Ensure you continue using the medicine for the duration your doctor has prescribed.
