Sufrate LA Cream is used to relieve pain, itching, swelling and inflammation caused by piles (haemorrhoids) and anal fissures, and to provide comfort after anorectal surgery.

Here's how you should apply Sufrate LA Cream:

• Ensure that the affected anal area is clean and dry before application.

• Gently apply the cream to the affected area as directed by your doctor.

• A small quantity of the cream, about the size of a pea, should be enough for each use.

• Massage it lightly into the skin until fully absorbed.

• Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after every application.

Sufrate LA Cream contains three active ingredients that work together to manage symptoms and promote healing in anorectal conditions:

• Sucralfate (7%): On application, sucralfate forms a protective coating over inflamed or ulcerated mucosa which shields it from further irritation and promotes healing. It binds to proteins at the ulcer site forming a physical barrier against irritants and acid.

• Metronidazole (1%): As a synthetic antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent, metronidazole eliminates anaerobic bacteria and parasites that may be causing or aggravating infections in the anal area. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties that reduce swelling and inflammation.

• Lidocaine (4%): This component is a local anaesthetic that stabilises neuronal membranes thereby blocking nerve signals, which results in a numbing effect that helps alleviate pain and discomfort.

• Keep Sufrate LA Cream at room temperature, ideally in a cool and dark place.

• Avoid direct exposure to light or heat sources.

• Do not freeze this medicine.

• Always keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.

• Ensure it is out of reach and sight of children.

• Since Sufrate LA Cream is used to manage anorectal conditions, incorporating a high-fibre diet can aid in softening stools, and reducing straining during bowel movements.
