Sotar 40 Tablet 10

Sotar-40 Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter
• Controlling ventricular tachycardia
• Prevention of ventricular fibrillation
• Handling paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT)

When taking Sotar-40 Tablet, please follow these steps:

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.
• The tablet should be taken during meals to lessen potential stomach discomfort.
• Do not break, crush, or chew the tablet.
• Never take more than your doctor has advised.
• Abruptly stopping the medicine is discouraged. If you wish to stop, consult your doctor first.

Sotar-40 Tablet is taken orally.

Sotar-40 Tablet contains Sotalol (40 mg), which acts on the body through the following mechanisms:

• Beta-1-Adrenergic Receptor Competition: Sotalol competes with beta-1-adrenergic receptors in your body. These receptors have a strong interaction with adrenaline and other similar substances that affect heart rate and blood pressure. By competing with these receptors, sotalol reduces their impact, thereby slowing down nerve impulses in the heart and decreasing both heart rate and blood pressure.
• Prolongation of Action Potential Duration: This tablet extends the duration of action potentials and refractoriness in cardiac tissue. Action potentials are essentially electrical signals that travel across your heart tissue to regulate heartbeat. By increasing their length, sotalol prevents arrhythmias from recurring and slows down the ventricular rate during atrial flutter/fibrillation.

• Store Sotar-40 Tablet at room temperature.
• Keep the medicine away from light and moisture to protect its efficacy.
• Always keep the product out of reach of children for safety reasons.
• Make sure to use the tablet before its expiry date for optimal effectiveness.

• If you're taking Sotar-40 Tablet for irregular heartbeats, maintaining a balanced diet low in sodium can help manage your condition. Excessive sodium can increase blood pressure, causing your heart to work harder.
• Stay hydrated regularly. Adequate hydration helps to prevent an excessive drop in blood pressure, a possible side effect of this medicine.
